introduction
It all began in 2004, with a ring. Four patterns from the Boucheron archives, all seemingly at odds with each other – Grosgrain, Double Godron, Clou de Paris and the Line of Diamonds – were brought together to form one singular esthetic. Drawing on the Maison’s heritage, the graphic, urbanQuatre collection distils the essence of Boucheron into acontemporary signature that has become an icon, symbolizingstrength and protection.
Quatre continues to assert the same enduring power after celebrating the milestone of its 20th anniversary. In a radical creative move, Claire Choisne has reinforced the original patterns with a polished gold tube, whose graphic purity imbues this iconwith an even more architectural dimension. The inventiveness and clean lines of Quatre Classique Tube pieces make them akin tosculptures, to be worn on the body.
new quatre classique tube pieces
The star piece of the collection is a torque necklace with an oversized tubular design, whose effect is magnified by the Quatre motif that forms its central clasp.

A High Jewelry version in white gold – its tube paved with grain-set diamonds – displays consummate artistry in its central motif, where each historic pattern is reinterpreted through a specific cut of diamond. Princess-cut stones make up the Clou de Paris and the Grosgrain is formed of baguette-cut diamonds, while the Double Godron is set with round diamonds. These three bands beautifully set off the collection’s fourth emblematic pattern – the line of diamonds – which remains unchanged.

Quatre Classique Tube also comprises an angular bracelet whose central motif conceals its clasp, as well as a two-finger ring. While true to the Quatre collection’s graphic, edgy esthetic, these two designs make an even more striking statement. A genuinely totemic piece, the ring was conceived by Claire Choisne as two tubes of polished yellow gold that the four Quatre patterns seem to have slid onto, coming to rest at the centre of the hand.

a study in variations
Five further creations go to make up the Quatre Classique Tube line: two flexible neck rings, a bangle, a ring and a pair of small hoop earrings. Each of them showcases the Quatre Classique motif, and its hallmark colors, in a resolutely contemporary spirit. Thanks to their ergonomic shape, both style and comfort during wear are assured. The clasps on the bangle and the solid neck ring are concealed inside their central four-pattern motif, leaving a perfectly smooth tube encircling the wrist or throat. If it isn’t hidden, there is no clasp – as on the second neck ring, which has an open, supple construction and two Quatre motifs. The ring has a motif designed to rotate.

In tandem with these new designs, Boucheron is expanding its Quatre Classique collection with several other pieces this year, a bolo tie necklace and two sets of earrings – one a motif stud style, and one pair of small hoops. On the bolo necklace, the central slide is formed by a variety of Quatre patterns stacked together. This boldly graphic tube glides up and down the chain, allowing the necklace to be adjusted in length and worn different ways. The new stud earrings offer an innovative plus: their stems can be unscrewed, transforming them into clips that can be fastened onto a garment for fresh styling possibilities. Lastly, the iconic hoops from the Quatre Classique collection have been reimagined in a more understated version.

ABOUT THE QUATRE COLLECTION
The patterns of Quatre
Infused with the past, yet purposefully directed towards the future: that’s Quatre. The collection was sparked by a choice of motifs from the archives, each of which honors a different facet of Boucheron’s history.
THE DOUBLE GODRON
The Double Godron first appeared in the Maison’s creations in the 1860s, an architectural design of raised bands, reminiscent of fluting. As this pattern attests, Boucheron has always drawn inspiration from architecture. Two rings melded into one: the Double Godron in the Quatre ring symbolizes an eternal love that binds two beings.
The Clou de Paris’s myriad facets draw light to the ring, recalling the cobblestones of Paris, and Place Vendôme in particular. First introduced into Boucheron’s design repertoire in 1911, this motif pays homage to the location of the Maison’s historic headquarters. In 1893, Frédéric Boucheron was the first of the great contemporary jewelers to open a boutique on Place Vendôme. Number 26 of this storied square has been home to Boucheron ever since.
LINE OF DIAMONDS
Grosgrain was originally a ribbed silk fabric, often used to make ribbons. This pattern has been in Boucheron’s archives since the 1860s. Its origin can be traced to Frédéric Boucheron’s father, who was a textile merchant by trade. The Grosgrain motif recalls the couture heritage that helped make Boucheron’s name, with jewelry famed for being as supple and delicate as precious fabrics.
the savoir-faire of quatre
An artful fusion of traditional know-how and cutting–edge technologies, each pattern is patiently crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Quatre is like no other ring. It’s formed of four completely distinct bands, individually fashioned and then assembled into the iconic Boucheron esthetic.
From initial composition of the alloys until final assembly of the four bands, each gesture is precisely executed to within the nearest nano-millimeter, as even the most minute discrepancy could jeopardize the end result. Using a press, without either glue or solder, the four bands are assembled by hand and a final sound – a soft “click” – signals that the piece is perfect.
This collection harnesses technology to complement traditional jewelry-making techniques, without ever replacing them. Crafting the Quatre ring involves executing tasks to a degree of precision that no human hand could manage, so they are done using digitally controlled machines. The stage of turning – sculpting the gold to shape the inside and outside of the ring’s bands – is one example.
